The weekend a lot of knitters, crocheters, spinners and fibre fans look forward to all year is almost upon us! Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival is an amazing experience for anyone interested in yarn and fibre. Barns after barns bursting with wonderful products to oogle and squish, every gauge, every colour, (almost) every texture, animals to pet, leaves to peep and the best apple crisp I have ever tasted – it’s a weekend not to be missed! I am so lucky to live close to this event and really do look forward to it the moment I leave the fairgrounds the previous year.
Last year my Clotheshorse partner, Mindy Brown came up to visit and attended the festival for the first time. We had so much fun!
We braved the chilly wind dressed up in some of my favourite AoK designs. Mindy wore CROMARTY, while I was dressed in IONA, the faux fur collar from TAY and my TOFFEE APPLE ARMWARMLETS. We recieved compliment after compliment from other attendees and a few people wanted to fondle my fuzzy shoulders, we felt like Rock Stars – hehehe.
We had so much fun that one day wasn’t enough! My sister & niece were visiting from England so we dragged them (still tired from their flight the previous day) and the fella along for some yarnie fun on Sunday.
Mindy wore RHUBARB & CUSTARD:
The fella looked right at home in his LOCHY:
And my FYNE legwarmers (which he now thinks are his!)
and I wore CROMARTY (close-ups):
My sister, Julie wore HOWLITE and had people following her, wanting the pattern! Unfortunately, I was being a rubbish photographer and didn’t take any photos of her in it!!! And she’s so much more photogenic than I am! Bad Blogger! Here’s a couple of photos of HOWLITE anyway:
Lucky wasn’t allowed at the festival so she had to spend the day by herself, back at the Hutch but we made sure she received plenty of attention on our return:
The festival was quite a bit quieter on the second day so that’s when the fella will be joining Mindy & I this weekend but us girls will most definitely be attending both days and I promise to take better photos this year!
The excitment doesn’t end at the festival as this year we will be having an Army of Knitters & Clotheshorse Trunk Show and soiree at White Barn Farm : 815 Albany Post Rd New Paltz, NY 12561. Phone 914.456.6040. Saturday evening 7 – 9pm. Come on over and join us for some dress-up fun! We will have loads of samples for you to fondle and try on – so exciting! We can’t wait to see you!!!!!

Now I want a Tay so bad I can taste it. I saw this photo on Mindy’s blog and thought it must be an AoK piece. Gorgeous!
